February 28 2020

What do you think ‘research’ is?
Searching and gathering knowledge about certain topics of interest using different
means and methods.

Do you think you will ever need research skills?
Everyone needs research skills in their day to day lives, to make it simple let’s say
you want to purchase a vehicle, you will not go buy a vehicle straight away, you will
first analyze the vehicle market to first identify what suits you, then chose a proper
vehicle sale or seller that is willing to sell a vehicle that is worth your budget, all this
gathering information comes under research.
Research skills are needed even for your day to day decision making and it is very
important as it helps you to take an accurate picture before committing into a decision.

What do you think a research journal is and who is it written for?
The findings of a research and the methods and means used to research are
recorded in the research journal and it is for the use of the researcher for future
reference.

What is plagiarism?
Plagiarism is where someone else’s research or work is copied and used as if one’s
own under the his or her name, in other words stealing the work done by someone
and presenting them as if its one’s own.

Why is it important to avoid it?
It is important to avoid plagiarism as it is an unethical practice to copy another
person’s work and to publish as one’s own without the credit been given to the
original owner.
Avoiding Plagiarism helps increase individual thinking, writing and researching skills
rather that to copy something.
